The National Mosque is a modern mosque located in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, next to the Railway Station, and near the Daya Bumi Building, General Post Office Malaysia, the Islamic Arts Museum, the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park and the Lake Gardens. It was built between 1963 and 1965 with a total area of 52,000 m2 (12,000 m2 building). It contains a prayer hall that can accommodate 5,000 worshipers, a conference hall, a mausoleum, a library, offices, a compound, a tower, royal rooms and a room for the imam.
