Pre-Award Specialist
Help in Pre-Award activities in the office of research support which includes assisting in vetting, pre-award for internal grants, managing pre-award website, announcing and training faculty for opportunities, and support identifying new funding opportunities and help develop material to promote research in QU.
- Participate in pre-award phase of internal funding programs in QU
- Announce funding opportunities to faculty members and answer their questions
- Help in coordinating training, consultation, grant writing support sessions to help in submission of grants applications
- Help in coordinating between a network of mentors and proposal experts in different colleges and centers
- Help researchers submit research proposals to the industry and funding agency in a timely manner
- Assist in the vetting process for different funding programs.
- Coordinate the lessons learned from each call for proposals (success rates, lessons from successful proposals).
- Work with researchers and faculty to encourage more high quality proposals
- Interacts with faculty, senior administrators and sponsor representatives to facilitate research administrative activities.
- Monitors regulations and law issues related to grants and contracts and provide written interpretations of the potential impact to QU research.
- Ensures a high quality of services delivery.
- Perform other tasks and duties that may be occasionally required in order to meet the requirements of the role and the aims of the University.

- Perform additional tasks in the pre-award team as needed to achieve the office objectives.
Education and Certifications
- BSc degree is required (preferred from business school)

Post-Award Specialist
Acts as a team member in the Post-Award activities of the Office of Research Support for grants and contracts. Interfaces with faculty and university offices and external funding agencies to facilitate the exchange of information and provide timely and efficient technical and administrative services associated with post-award administration of contracts and grants to assigned departments.
- Interacts with faculty, administrators and sponsor representatives as needed to facilitate research administrative transactions
- Providing help desk support for all post-award team operation
- Track and monitor post award transactions and records on daily basis, develop tracking and record keeping tools and strong reporting mechanism to the team
- Track and follow-up with agreements and amendments with the contracts and compliance team, submit required reports to the RS leadership team
- Provide guidance, advice and support to academic departments as needed
- Receive and Facilitate the resolution of inquiries/complaints received from researchers and from other departments
- Check and approve different forms in accordance with the award terms and conditions and QU policies and procedures
- Participate in departmental activities of short-term planning, formulation and resolution of procedural issues, development and enhancement of services, and determination and assessment of goals and objectives.
- Participate in designing and implement procedures, services, and systems for the post award office as needed
- Resolve issues with post-award team on budgets, reporting requirements, costs, invoicing, expenditure eligibility, staffing, final reports and any other associated Post-Award issues to ensure transactions are completed efficiently
- Liaise with funding agencies to resolve issues related to queries and requests on behalf of the post award team as needed.
- Perform post-award administration tasks and responsibilities in terms of grant management to cover for other specialists whenever needed
- Administer research projects, if needed, ensuring that all sponsor requirements and deadlines are adhered to and that University regulations, policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Issue reports about post award team performance (financial, productivity, etc.)
- Ensures a high quality of services delivery.
Education and Certifications
- A Bachelor Degree is required. (preferred from business school)
- A Master degree is a plus
Languages
- Arabic is required
- English is required
Experience
- Administration experience is preferred
- Experience in sponsored grants and contracts in university environment is preferable
- Knowledge of sponsor and University research policies, practices and procedures is a plus
- Basic knowledge of University and departmental policies and procedures is a plus
- Basic Considerable experience in administrative activities, including budget and personnel management is recommended
