Richard Serra is an American sculptor whose works compose of sheet metal. Serra’s works are familiar to the residents of Qatar since ‘Seven’ was unveiled at the Museum of Islamic Art park in the year 2011. Just this year, Serra’s works were exhibited around Doha. In addition this, another permanent art piece was commissioned and placed at Zekhreet called ‘East-West\/West-East’.<\/p>\n
To increase the knowledge of the residents of Qatar, during the period that Serra’s works are placed around Qatar, a seminar in Virginia Commonwealth University-Qatar was held. This was done to allow Serra to discuss his works and to accommodate questions from students and from people who wished to attend.<\/p>\n
Since Serra’s pieces are mostly in public spaces, the research team also arranged a field trip to his works.<\/p>\n
