Artificial Intelligence Contest for High School Students in Qatar
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Qatar University is organizing an Artificial Intelligence contest for high school students in Qatar. This contest aims to raise awareness among students about the importance and role of AI in providing solutions for many real-world problems, and to stimulate passion among students for this field in preparation for future careers and jobs in this area. This contest provides an opportunity for students to interact and demonstrate their creative skills and teamwork abilities.
The contest aims to encourage students to be creative and innovative in developing AI-based solutions including computer programs, mobile applications, or embedded systems to address some of the problems and challenges in the following areas:

Eligibility and Participation Criteria
- The competition is for high school students in the State of Qatar.
- The participating team must consist of three or four students, at least two of them should be Qatari.
- There will be three winning teams for male students and three winning teams for female students. Therefore, for mixed schools, all team members must be of the same gender (male or female).
- A student can participate in only one team.
- Multiple teams from the same school can participate.

Contest Procedures

Important dates
- Last day to register for the contest: Tuesday 27-Feb-2024
- Online training workshop: Thursday 29-Feb-2024 at 11:00am to 12:30 pm
- Video Submission: Saturday 4-May -2024
- Contest day: Monday 13- May-2024
Evaluation
- Teams will be evaluated based on the following:
- Innovation and creativity: 35%
- Accuracy and operability of the project: 45%
- Video: 10%
- Presentation on the day of the competition: 10%

Instructions for submitting the video
- Each team must record a video lasting no less than five minutes and no more than ten minutes. The video should include the following:
- The name of the project, the names of the team members, and the school name
- The problem that the team solved using artificial intelligence
- The video should demonstrate a practical application of the project
The team will upload the video on the internet (e.g., on YouTube or Google Drive or any other platform). To upload the video link: click here
The presentation
- Each team will have ten minutes to present their project in front of the judging panel.
- The presentation must clarify the problem that the project aims to solve.
- The presentation must demonstrate through practical application how the project works to solve this problem.
- Team members should answer the questions of the judging panel.
Prizes
- First place: 5,000 Qatari Riyals
- Second place: 4,000 Qatari Riyals
- Third place: 3,000 Qatari Riyals
