February 7, 2021 / Leave a comment
Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Ali (Assistant Professor in the CSE Department, and Director of KINDI Center for Computing Research) participated in the AI Week event organized by the Computing Club at Qatar University by giving a talk titled: “Machine Learning: the good, the bad, and the unexpected” with an audience of more than 80 students and attendees. The talk covered: basic principles of supervised Machine Learning; what is inside the “black box” by demonstrating a few examples of simple yet effective algorithms; what to consider when training an algorithm; and how machine learning affects our lives today. The talk covered recent success stories, the culture machine learning has left on industries and researchers today, and concluded with the lessons learned and what to look for as we march forward in this data-driven era.
