UNSEEN: A Non-Visual Collaborative Center

People with visual disabilities have always faced barriers throughout their life as the society has been designed to be functioned by fully sighted people. There is a higher rate of unemployment among the non-sighted comparatively. Therefore, a space to provide vocational training, which would help bridge the gap would be beneficial. In addition, as architectural barrier is one among the barriers they face, this project aims to explore architecture in a non-visual world aiming to design a facility with minimum barriers by exploring the concept of multi-sensory architecture.

MISSION: The goal of this project is to design a multi-sensory facility that provides educational and recreational spaces that are free of architectural barriers for the blind and visually impaired community. In addition, the project also aims to provide spaces that allow the public to explore and experience a non-visual multi-sensory world.

The goal is to empower the blind and visually impaired through vocational training and involvement in cultural activities, provide a common center with all kinds of resources required for the blind and visually impaired to excel at various fields, bridge the gap between sighted and non-sighted community through collaborative cultural spaces, and explore the extent of the need for multi-sensory buildings.
