Background_FG10

As air conditioners (AC) in Qatar contributes to 60%-80% of the electricity consumption, especially in summer, ACs are operating the whole day which affects energy efficiency. The consumption is largely due to the cooling leakage out from the outer layer of the high-rise buildings when they are not isolated properly. The project is related to design a drone and load it with proximity and heat sensors so that it can fly next to a high-rise building in Doha and Lusail and measure the heat difference at several locations around the tower; as a result, the amount of leaked cooling from different towers at different levels can be measure. Designing the drone system is challenging since it is supposed to deal with constraints, especially in terms of drone weight (critical for flying) and power consumption (critical for battery drainage). Hence, using the mentioned system, the level of the energy efficiency for buildings will be kept in the acceptable ranges.
